Colby had no hesitations about sharing her top 10 reasons for working at Resolute. It could be because she started here as Resolute’s first intern back in 2009, and has been working as a Digital Strategist for us since graduating college in 2010. She recently executed a successful media buying campaign for Burlington Coat Factory and is a force to be reckoned with Thursday nights on the beer pong tables.
“Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.”—Ron Burgundy (Apologies if you haven’t seen Anchorman but it’s a fantastic movie.)
In all seriousness, I think it’s really cool that we have people here from all different backgrounds and we get to work side by side and learn from each other. It’s not often that you get developers working alongside an SEO team and integrating their recommendations into a new site launch. Our employees bring a wealth of knowledge from different industries ranging from the agency side, brand side, publishing, B2B, and we even have an ex stand up comedian on board. It definitely gets interesting at company gatherings.
2. The Digs
We moved to a new office this summer and are now proud owners of a large floor in a lovely building in Chelsea. Aside from being in a great location right across from Whole Foods and near Penn Station/many subway stops, it’s spacious and pretty cool. Think lots of glass walls, fun decals and Mac computers. Clearly the best part is our lounge, which has a Samsung 3D TV, a fully stocked fridge and two kegs on tap at all times. There is also a proliferation of Nerf guns lying around so beware.
3. Encouraging A Healthy Lifestyle
Another great perk of working at Resolute is the encouragement to be healthy and active. There are a number of activities in which you can choose to participate. Every fall we enter the New York Sport Club Flag Football league. And while we haven’t made it to the playoffs yet, we’re getting there! We also have a yearly Biggest Loser weight-loss competition (coming up soon) for those who need some incentive to shed the winter weight. Managing Partner Dan also happens to be a cycling fanatic and has started his own Resolute cycling team. He leads rides in the morning, after work and on weekends, if you so choose. He has even gone so far as to purchase the equipment to run his own spin class at the office. Yeah, it’s legit.
4. Beer Pong Thursdays
We definitely live by the “work hard, play hard” philosophy. Obviously it is critical to meet your deadlines and only deliver the best final product, but come Thursday at 6:00pm, it’s Beer Pong time. This is when we gather around the kegs, set up our custom RD-branded regulation tables and start the smack talk. Choose your partner wisely and try to end up on top—this means bragging rights and control over the music the following week. Did I mention free beer and pizza?
5. The Dogs
We are a dog friendly company and have some pretty great additions to the team. There’s Cooper—a big chocolate lab who loves to take walks and search for food in the garbage, Tyson—a little fluff ball full of energy, Molly—who especially enjoys chasing tennis balls and pretending to be Adam while sitting on his chair, and JJ—who (and I may be biased since she’s mine) is the cutest dog that ever lived. These little fellas are a great morale booster and love Resolute Digital.
6. We Like Each Other
We all really enjoy each other and like to hang out both inside and outside of the office. There are lots of group lunches, happy hours, and random nights out so if you ever need an accomplice there is always someone down to hang. Also, every other week we tell each other just how much we appreciate one another with Props. Props allows us to recognize a coworker for something awesome they did, whether it was scoring a touchdown in Flag Football or launching a new project after pulling an all-nighter.
7. The Talent
In my opinion, one of the best aspects of working at Resolute is being surrounded by super smart, talented people. Our hires are crazy good at what they do and ready to be challenged to take it to the next level. We pride ourselves as being thought leaders and staying ahead of the curve in this fast-paced digital world.
8. Choose Your Own Destiny
The great thing about getting in at this stage is that you can help determine your own path. We are a pretty flat organization so there’s no politics or bureaucratic BS to deal with. You have direct access to the partners and managers and they actually care about you. If you are a hard worker and continue to challenge yourself, you will succeed. If you want to change roles or try something new, just ask and there’s a good chance it will happen.
9. Expand Your Knowledge
We want our people to be up-to-date on the latest trends and experts in their fields. We’ll support this growth and learning by sending people all over the country to participate in conferences, expos, summits, you-name-it. We also hold monthly “tech talks” where we’ll bring in speakers or even have internal presenters to cross-educate our teams.
10. Be a Part of Something Awesome
If you can’t tell, I am a huge advocate of Resolute Digital. I’ve been here pretty much since day 1 (if you count my intern days) and have watched the company grow to an unimaginable extent. Throughout all of the change, we haven’t lost sight of our core values or who we are as a company. We are doing some really cool things for our clients that haven’t been done before. Bottom line is—we are good people doing exciting things, and if you have the opportunity to join the team you definitely should.
